OMG this game was so disappointing. Bundler here. Wario-Ware is supposed to be a fast game with minimal story elements and virtually no dialogue. This game has a full fledged talking head story that I have to sit through before I can play the game. The game it's self is actually pretty good, the instructions are confusing but that's okay except EVERY TIME I DIE I HAVE TO FAST-FORWARD THROUGH THE STORY AGAIN JUST TO RESTART. Totally takes me out of the rhythm of the actual game play. This feels like a bait and switch, Wario-Ware games should not have long-winded reading talking head stories.

Oh and they have freeplay option but it just takes me to the tutorial again which I skipped because it's Wario-Ware. Wario-Ware is designed to work with minimal instructions, no tutorial needed. If there is a freeplay mode I couldn't get to it because I wasn't sitting through the tutorial and I couldn't stand the story slow down every time I died. So I quit.

Dev. Please cut the story out and let us play the game, Which is actually very good. But I couldn't really get the hang of it because like I said the story element got in the way of the gameplay. At the very least add a skip button. And for gosh sake drop the tutorial.

Thanks for the feedback, sorry to have disappointed you.

The tutorial is skippable from the pause screen, I’ll probably have the game also just ask outright if the player wants to view it. Admittedly it needs an overhaul but I don’t think its completely unnecessary. It is not blocking anything in freeplay, the characters currently only show up there after beating them in the story mode. It’s set up so that you play them once in the main story (ends after the first boss), and then go to freeplay to go for a high score without the intro/outro.

We’ll implement a proper game over screen with the option to retry in the future instead of booting to the main menu upon losing. How the story impacts the game flow is something I’d been concerned about, and just never really got much feedback on. I don’t know if we’ll remove it entirely but I’ll definitely work on making it less intrusive (+ some kind of option to have things in freeplay from the get go).

I’ll try and get an update out within a few weeks to remedy everything (hopefully sooner, but I’m the only programmer still active)
