People call it game design. Narrative design. Let's talk about that.

Do you recall the first image in this topic? That was a while ago - the one with a greeting and three choices. This is what it ended up being on launch.

Progress, yes, but more importantly, this is one of the pages that might follow.

This is a promise. It's the game telling you, "I'm paying attention to what you're saying and this is how I interact with it. I'm having fun."

The game doesn't do this for a few passages onward, and in fact it doesn't do it for most of the story, but you realize what it's aiming for without reciting your actions word for word. It sometimes says its own things to tell you about the world, and you get reminders that it doesn't plan to stop.

There is a big poem waiting for you at the end of the game. By that time, and people take around an hour or two to beat the game from what I gather, it's a 40-line song that picks from 100 lines. (Okay, technically 20 double-lines out of 50.) Its final verses also serve as the introduction to one of the three endings you'll get.

The kicker is, this idea was among the last that came to mind. Sure, the ending song was ready, but it was supposed to be a complete surprise at the end. I think that sprinkling these verses is the best thing that could've happened to the game.

And now I'm sharing the experience ^_^
