lol, i get you. i think gdev is a good engine, the only issue is that, somehow, it lacks some basics and has complexity on where it simply shouldn't belong, it feels like the devs did that on purpose. When i try an engine, i immediately think: "is the structure easy to understand?", "how simple is it?", "how long does it take to learn everything?", "is there a community?" (i’m not really into communities; i prefer talking directly to the devs), etc. i still make games on gdev, but i plan to switch to godot because i have bigger projects in mind, and gdev is a big no-no for that because it lacks basic features you'd find in html, etc...

i think i'll stick to turbowarp for at least a while because i dont like how so many engines basically GIVE you built-in like pathfinders, shaders, cool stuff, its much more fun and challenging to program all that myself rather than drag and drop everything

when i was using the engine, i HAD to watch tutorials in order to even use the engine, but the tutorials were completely useless and you had to do certain things to unlock more tutorials, and because the tutorials taught me nothing, it was literally impossible to progress. so i just gave up

have you tried godot? i would highly recommend it to people like you, it doesn't come with as many built-in features of that kind, and it's the easiest no-sugarcoat game engine out there...
