She just wants you to write notes so you can have everything in one place. For example, I found writing the Corel Alphabet (something you'll find later on) to be helpful. That way I don't have to go back for everything that I find. Not only are you an anthropologist in the game, but you should be writing notes on paper or on a tablet, so you can be an anthropologist in real life.
