The average rating came down to about 3/5 stars.
I obviously have no idea how much of an experienced coder you are, so I gave you the benefit of the doubt for creativity. What you presented is a nice idea which could also get many expansions. It’s just that it’s really simplistic.
I also want to point out that even though it was a simplistic game I did LIKE that there was a lack of instructions so the player kind of had to trial and error their way through the game and make their own strategy. The bug that required to fully refresh the itch page did have impact on the rating due to it being inconvenient.
To summarize it one last time:
It’s a pretty enjoyable simple game that has a lot of potential to grow into an even more enjoyable small project.
I think you can do a great job if you have a good idea and if you don’t have a time limit
