Hi everyone! I'm the solo-developer of Deck Beasts.

Here's the basic rundown:

Build a squad of pixel-art beasts and battle your way through the warp in this deck-building auto-battler roguelike.

Draft beasts, equip abilities and items, collect relics, and win 10 battles before losing 4 hearts.

Fight ranked multiplayer battles against real players' teams, climb 9 rank tiers from Slime to Grandmaster, and earn gems to unlock 95+ beasts, 120+ abilities, 60+ items and 35+ relics.

Careful strategy - Once a beast learns a new ability, it's permanent - choose wisely.

What's done so far:

- Fully-built engine and combat system, including 30 status effects, 100+ abilities, items to equip, and run-altering relics.

- Completed shop where players construct their team between runs - playing into the randomness to craft an entirely new team, every run.

- A Super-Auto-Pets-style deckbuilder where players can construct and fine-tune every aspect of their deck.

- 98 Fully-sprited beasts, each fully animated to cast attacks, skills, and powers, in addition to resting, idling, and dangling animations.

- A working, fully-implemented matchmaking system for multiplayer utilizing asynchronous, ghost-based PvP, alongside a tiered global ranking system.

- Tons of balance changes already, with many more on the way.

And the combat scene:

Here's the latest update: 0.24.4 AKA 'The Depths'

TL;DR: Endless mode, a brand-new full-screen victory ceremony, end-of-run awards for your whole team, additional visual polish across the board, and a massive fix to matchmaking and leaderboards.

  • The Depths - Want to push your team to the limits? The depths is an optional "endless" mode after a player wins a run - go all the way to round 30 and refine your most game-breaking team along the way (note: Depths has ZERO impact on ranking, though you can earn gems)
  • Ceremonial Victory - win a full run to be rewarded like a king. New fx and animations, and a full ceremony for a well-earned victory.
  • Superlatives — every beast on your final team earns a title based on performance.
  • Shareable deck codes - An easy way to share decks. Simply click 'copy code' while creating a deck (or on a deck you've already made) to create a unique code for that deck. Click 'from code' in the deck picker menu to create a complete deck from that code.
  • Tons of matchmaking changes: leaderboard fixed and expanded, and more accurate matchmaking across the board.

Polish: • Relic display rebuilt with a cleaner framed look (and room for up to 4). • Item, ability, and level-up slots got a subtler, crisper visual treatment. • Reworded the empty deck-hand hint so it's clearer what goes there. • Small, but important engine fixes and glitch repairs - better synergy and stat-tracking. • right-click shop items to freeze them • Significant improvements to optimization and loading • Fixed some many issues related to freezing and interruptions.

What's next:

  • more visual polish and engine fixes in anticipation of a Steam demo release
  • optimized matchmaking
  • more content (beasts, abilities, items, and relics)
  • balance changes as the meta progresses
