I was thinking to add other mechanics like it showing color that it is adjactent to correct cable you need to cut or something with time as a currency. But we don't have time for it so we make memory game. I think there are plenty of options to add some uniqe mechanics.
With plugged to different points sounds interesting tbh, but it should be in like 10+ level and good option would add some checkpoints that when you die you don't start again on level 1 and doing same thing.
