How to Play Mafia Verse
The game is a battle of wits between the Innocents and the Mafia. The game alternates between two main phases: Night and Day.
The Phases of the Game
- The Night Phase
If you are Mafia, you choose one player to eliminate.
If you have a special role, you use your unique nighttime ability to help your team or protect yourself. - The Day Phase
The game reveals who was eliminated during the night.
Everyone uses the text chat to debate, share clues, and figure out who is lying.
At the end of the day, everyone votes to eliminate the most suspicious player.
How to Win
Innocents win if they eliminate all Mafia members.
Mafia wins if they equal or outnumber the Innocents.
Special roles like the Jester have their own unique win conditions.
Solo Play and Using Bots
You do not need a full room of real people to play. If you are playing solo or just want to fill up a lobby, you can add AI bots to the match. [1]
The bots will automatically take roles, participate in the game logic, and vote during the day phase, allowing you to practice your strategies alone.
Guide to the Roles
Innocent Team
Citizen: Has no special nighttime abilities. Your main job is to use deduction during the day to hunt down the Mafia.
Detective: Investigates one player each night to find out if they are Innocent or Mafia.
Doctor: Chooses one player to protect each night. If the Mafia attacks that player, they survive.
Bodyguard: Protects a player at night. Unlike the Doctor, if the targeted player is attacked, the Bodyguard dies in their place to save them.
Vigilante: You have exactly two bullets per game. You can choose to shoot a player you think is Mafia during the night. Be careful, if you shoot an Innocent, you hurt your own team.
Mayor: Your vote counts as double during the daytime voting phase. This gives you massive power to swing public decisions.
Mafia Team
Mafia: Secret killers who vote to eliminate one player each night and try to blend in during the day. [1]
Neutral Team
Jester: You do not belong to the Innocents or the Mafia. Your only goal is to act as suspicious as possible so the town mistakenly votes to eliminate you during the day phase. If you get voted out, you win the game instantly.
Tips for Your First Match
If you want to practice solo, start a lobby; there will be 5 bots there, and you can add whichever roles you want: 1 mafia, 1 doctor, etc., but there always has to be 1 civilian if you play solo; it will be you plus 5 bots. Keep that in mind.
If you are the Vigilante, save your two bullets until later in the game when you have real clues from the chat discussions.
