As someone who played through nearly all of the mainline Touhou games including the PC-98 games, I have some critics to say.

First, the pros: The game has a good artstyle and soundtrack. The options menu is big and it allows you to play the game in other languages too, like german. The principle of the game is easy to understand and the cutscenes well done. And of course its free to play.

But on the other hand, the game is way too hard. What I mean by that is that the bullets are partially so small that you have a hard time seeing them. The background has (namely the first stage)  the same color palette as the bullets. The bullets itself sometimes just spawn in while you try to get into the autocollect zone. The cast is pretty original but they have no explanation to be there. Like Cirno who is just there to be there or Scuttle. Who is that Scuttle? I never heard of that character. All that I know comes from the description. If its a fan made character by yours, why didn't you expand further on Scuttle instead of adding the most random character for the third boss fight. Its nice to see some older characters getting a comeback like Kurumi (the most underrated boss in Touhou). But from what I saw it didn't get explained further except that Ellie wanted to get back or something. Some of the attacks that the bosses performed were s l i g h t l y to hard. I played Easy and Normal mode and some of those attacks seemed outright impossible the first time I encountered them. And then there are attacks that are way to easy. Its like if you mixed Touhou 10 and Touhou 11 and then added a bunch of lasers. Ah yes, the lasers. While being way to thin there are also WAY to fast. I'm talking about the non-spell the fourth boss performs (the one with the turquoise lasers).
There are a few bugs I encountered. For example, Hina tried performing her extra attack while the game thought I had already beaten her. There were no bullets but I could still shoot her down. The pause menu is absolute garbage not thought out well enough. I mean by that, that the OPTIONS-button being the first button and the RETRY-button being the third out of four.

I have also looked through every corner of this game and I just couldn't find the manual or A manual. I'm still asking myself how the I get the powersurge (I know that I said beforehand that the principle is easy and is: if you get the powersurge, you only have to collect the yellow items to keep it running, but getting there is weird).

While having some good qualities, I was frustrated a lot just getting to the fifth stage without getting hit by any of those microscopic bullets. I appreciate the work you have done and also your passion to keep releasing new updates and this is not something personal but its not a perfect game and something I will not play for the near future. 5.2/10

Hi, thanks for taking your time to write the review.

The manual is actually included with the game, it's the GAME.html file inside the archive (or game installation directory). You can also view it online. I do want to integrate it into the game itself eventually, as it should be. Sorry about that.

You're not alone with the complaints about visibility and overtuned difficulty. We're mostly focused on the extra stage for the upcoming v1.5 update right now, but those are on our radar as well. On the other hand, I'm curious about which patterns you thought were too easy.

The cast of bosses is kind of a mess, I agree. This is mostly due to the game's development having been started a really long time ago, when we were still in high school. The bosses were mostly chosen based on the lead dev's favoritism and story cohesion was, at best, a secondary concern.  The game's story has actually been completely rewritten 2 times since then, by two different people, and both tried their best to retrofit the existing cast into the story. So this one isn't getting fixed, unless we make a Taisei 2 eventually. But at least Scuttle is going to play a role in the upcoming Extra stage.

Thanks for playing, your feedback is received. Hope you'll give the game another chance when 1.5 is out.
