Really awesome take on the theme, amazing job on the illustrations too, they look great especially with the limited palette. I liked the memorizing the enemy move set mechanic as well, I think it would be a really interesting idea to expand on (with different abilities, attacks etc).

I have two points of feedback:

First I would say, for me, there was a bit too much text in each of the dialog popups. I get that you're going for story and atmosphere, but breaking up the text into smaller chunks and letting the illustrations 'speak' a little bit more I think would help with the mystique that you're trying to invoke.

Second,  a hover tooltip system for the combat controls would have been nice. Just to have them show up in the bottom right console window would have helped a lot with the control intuition.

But overall very cool aesthetic and solid entry, good work!

Thank you so much for such a detailed comment! Yes, the palette was quite the challenge haha, especially since none of us had a lot of experience with pixel art. The memorizing mechanic will be expanded on. apart from adding more enemies, we'll also most likely change it so that the pattern changes once it finishes, and add some more fun stuff to make it more diverse.

Regarding the feedback, we were aware of how dense the text was and we plan to break it up better after the jam, you're totally right to point it out. As for the tooltip system, that's a great idea! We'll implement that along with mapping the controls to the keyboard, so there's a more comfortable way to play.

Thanks again for your feedback! We'll keep working on the game after the jam, since there's so much we had to leave out. If there's anything else you'd like to see added, feel free to let us know, as we're looking to take in as much feedback as possible.

Yeah I feel that pain of having to leave stuff out, at the end of these jams I always wish I had like 1 more day to teak and add stuff, but I guess that's part of the challenge. Glad to hear you'll keep working on it!
