To any future readers...
First of all, THIS IS NOT FUWAMOCO 64. That is a different game that (coincidentally) I am also helping develop.
Where I've been
I was in university for a bachelors in computer science at the time I wrote this. Due to me entering my later-stage classes that required more and more time, work, and attention, I had to step away from personal projects and gaming.
Where I am now
I fully plan on continuing working on this game, but I need time to revise some concepts. I have been fighting with myself over key gameplay elements and story beats. Heck, I've even been bouncing between game engines since each one has significant drawbacks that make the others look better.
Where I want to be
holoIndie currently does not have applications open for a few more months, so even if I wanted to announce anything, I can't. Additionally, unlike most of the indie devs in the hololive sphere, I am NOT an artist (or at least, not a talented artist). I am primarily a computer scientist who loves gaming and loves hololive and is trying to make something fun to share with the community.
I wish I could just poof the game into existance today, but that just can't happen. I wish I could have talented artists on a team with me, but that likely will never happen. I wish I could make a fun game that goes on to critical acclaim like HoloCure, but that will definitely never happen.
I'm sorry
Truthfully, I am also in an extreme financial struggle with no job prospects. During university, I had an internship at Amazon. I was so lucky to get this, but even then, I messed up and they didn't give me a return offer (also partially because they misunderstood my graduation date). Ever since then, I've never been able to find a job other than at a local fast food joint. It stings so much because I want to have the time and money to work on things I love, but I just don't have them.
I feel somewhat evil sometimes thinking "oh, if I finish that hololive game, maybe I'll get the money I need" or "hey, I can make this really quick and then add it to my resume to get a better job." Money and acclaim should never be the primary motivation for a passion project like this, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to rationalize "wasting" my precious time on a project that will likely be a flop.
I know no one was really following this game and almost no one even knew it existed. Probably only 3 or 4 people will ever even read this. But to those that do, I'm sorry. I truly am. I never should've shared this publicly and I feel like I've failed you guys.
