LOVE this so far! Alarmingly feature complete for a beta, I’m scared!!! Really fun to play with, and for vocal synth sickos (MEEEEEE) seeing dennis klatt’s work get this kind of tribute is really cool

phoneme fun!

Seconding I_am_yuzaniki’s comment that the [dx] phoneme sounds more like a tapped fricative to me, it’s great for english but I think a different sound for the Japanese dx/R is needed.

I also want to say the K and G sounds are a bit off - the G almost isn’t harsh enough, and I’ve found that I need to use the K instead sometimes … buuuuut, that’s a forever problem in vocal synths and I’m pretty sure DECtalk has it too, as all consonants are hell forever. so it’s an incredibly minor nitpick!!

features?

In the piano roll editor, would it be possible to extend a sound across two notes? This is much more of a UTAU feature so might be out of scope, but I’ve added a picture of what that looks like in openUTAU: image.png

bugs? user error? who knows!!

  • sometimes in the piano roll editor, clicking and dragging a note copies and pastes. not sure if a feature or bug, but if it is a feature, can we get a toggle? image.png
  • sometimes it won’t let me save and I don’t know why. I also don’t know why it starts working again, but it’s lead to some fun filenames: image.png
  • this seems to happen at the same time as being unable to save, but I’ll be unable to change or edit phonemes in the text or piano rolls.
  • exporting doesn’t output a backing track, if one was imported. this is probably a good thing actually, but it would be nice to have a toggle

WOW thank you for all the great feedback! adding a bunch of this stuff to my backlog right now. glad you’re having fun!

thank you so much!! I am having loads of fun, it’s so good!

one of the big things I forgot to mention is that text highlighting isn’t accurate, it’s kinda weird - you can see it in the browser version too. idk if its a font thing?
