went in for the sports, stayed for the sports, ended up completely obliterated by the spiritual desolation of the suburbs
this one GETS IT... the writing–on sports and love and gender and the suburbs–is flawless, the characters are beautifully realized, the visual work is stunning and the music fits everything just right.
i also just found it immensely relatable, being exactly the same age as the girls (in 2011) and having grown up in a similar place/situation. had me holding back tears at so many points. the ending scene genuinely crushed me. this is maybe my favorite visual novel ever
