Is this supposed to happen in Free Play and is there a way to fix it?

I have to close the game to do that and every time I do and try again it doesn't help

I can't press the guy to pause and exit
then explode urself and quit
can i just say i also can't :-/
this might be what happens when you make an invalid thing (for example using the 3x3 guarantee when you have less than 4 free tiles)
