I was extremely impressed with this game. Played up until about wave 13

  • The tutorial broke for me, I was told to await further orders and nothing ever happened.
  • I dont see why you would ever use the relative control scheme but I accidentally toggled it on with Z several times
  • This game looks and feels really good. Blasting off chunks of asteroids is a fun concept and maneuvering between the debris is really fun
  • My laser broke in an early level and pretty much prevented me from getting any more score. Luckily i had already hit the quota but just barely. This nearly ended my run
  • You start out feeling really sluggish and have to manage your velocity, then by the end you can zip and dash around which feels rewarding
  • I was getting pretty sick of never being able to mine out crystal chunks in time with my dinky laser, then i found the blaster, my beloved
  • The blaster is super fun and the ricochet is chaotic. That being said, it is such an instant and massive upgrade from the laser that I never used the laser again except for doing fine cuts to free crystals. After I got the upgrade to collect crystal dust i stopped using the laser entirely
  • Was surprised to see the turrets, cool way to spice things up
  • After acquiring and upgrading the blaster I went from barely being able to meet quota and repair myself to always hitting 10x to 20x the quota. I bought every upgrade as soon as it became available and they stopped having much meaning to me
  • I unlocked the missile and was extremely underwhelmed. Its slow to fire and has a tiny radius with puny turning ability just to do about the same damage to a rock meteor as a single blaster shot, which I could have fired like 30 of in the time it takes for the rocket to hit. Tried upgrading it but didnt make much difference with ~3k crystals invested

overall really fun stuff, not much feedback besides the other weapons might need some additional love to come up to the level of the blaster. Curious how close this game is to completion since it seems pretty polished. keep up the good work

Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, blaster might be a bit OP :) I'll fiddle with weapon values and upgrade costs until it feels right. Honestly thought it wasn't an instant upgrade if you leveled up the plasma beam somewhat before unlocking it. Did you upgrade beam damage or caliber? The former does little against rock asteroids without the latter, I need to communicate that better.

As for the tutorial breaking, did the first asteroid never spawn for you? If you kept moving, you might've missed it, I'll alter the spawn logic to avoid that, but if the Wave 0 never began, that's a headscratcher.

As far as completeness goes, it's honestly hard to say. I still have half a dozen features I'd like to add, plus a proper endgame/bossfight, but part of me wants to call this project a done deal, it was never meant to be a big game anyway. I'll address all the feedback I've gathered for now, and try to gather some more to see if this game is worth developing further.

i upgraded both the damage and caliber on the laser, though i wasnt doing a great job collecting crystals up until that point.

I never saw a first asteroid spawn, I was moving around for about a minute before giving up and restarting without the tutorial enabled.

I see! Should be a relatively easy fix.
