I loved the game, I must say I hardly ever played it.
The man had been stalking you since high school...
It struck me as odd that MC hadn't reported him to the police, since he followed her home and sometimes even her room. Besides, his personality was so hostile and rude to her.
When we started interacting with Geist, wait a minute, is this my subconscious or some ghost? Haha.
MC's first interactions with both characters made my stomach churn; I even had to pause. And Geist definitely didn't help with that.
But as the story progressed, I was captivated by the writing and the characters. Kalei was such a sweetheart, understanding and attentive. I didn't want the group meeting to happen >< I really wanted to cry with MC; the scene was so intense, but we survived.
Despite his hostility and unnecessary comments, Geist doesn't actually want to hurt MC; in fact, he wants to protect her from future pain, but he doesn't do it in a healthy way.
I like the ending with Kalei because it's the most hopeful. MC manages to interact with more people, forming stable relationships, and although it doesn't eliminate her anxiety, she manages to transform it into less self-destructive words and more practical and functional thoughts.
In contrast, Geist represents the end of comfort and the security of the present. MC stops suffering or feeling uncomfortable with new experiences, but the price is stagnation. Perhaps she no longer experiences that immediate anxiety, but in the future, that stagnation will also end up causing her pain for not having changed or lived new experiences.
