If you want to keep it only female MC you should definitely do it, especially because she appears in CG's.

It’s tough – I can see why a lot of indie devs add the gender option – because the market is already super small, by adding both male and female player character options, you can at least make the game accessible to a few more people. At the end of the day, since indie VNs are not a profitable venture by any means (unless you are top 1%, like Date with Death level of success), the main thing that indie devs want is for more people to play, interact with, and enjoy their games.
