In your inventory, hovering the mouse over an item and right-clicking will display the item menu, allowing you to select, examine, or discard the item.
Oh! So for context on how I could miss such a thing. I rebound my mouse to have all the controls for the game and in doing so rebound right-click to spacebar... Wasn't listed as a control anywhere so didn't think you'd need it.
