I ended up trying to make a few houses in Orson's cabin map, and in Silverpine, it seems sometimes NPCs will just randomly decide to use your own furniture for their schedule; I've had Orson ignore his own bed and stove just to use the one from a house I built a bit more west, perhaps trying to take a shorter path to his daily routine. And I've also had Hayden just casually entering the shed's spot every single day to light up a fireplace and sleep in a bed too.
