It has nothing to do with the f--king copout disclaimer about the guy being an a-hole. There's a difference between being that and being illogical. He says cringe shit like he does it on purpose. He says something like "I will make you mine" to the one chick like the second time he met her. "I will be the one to make you happy next time" to the tall black chick. He was a f--king superstar volleyball player. He has talked to girls before, even if he's socially awkward due to being obsessed w/the game in his youth.
