Hi SirPrometheus!

First of all, thank you for purchasing the previous version of my game.

The next and final three updates (0.8, 0.9, and 1.0) will also be paid releases out of respect for my Patreon supporters, who need to maintain their subscription in order to download each new version.

This keeps purchases fair across both platforms. In any case, I'm sorry if this expectation made you feel misled. Please know that this is the only way I can cover development costs, and if I made version 0.8 free for everyone who purchased earlier versions, I simply wouldn't be able to fund the development of the remaining chapters.

I'm not asking you to agree with my point of view, only to trust that I'm being sincere when I say this, as game development has become my full time job.

In any case, I wish you a great afternoon :)

I follow your thinking to an extent, but it honestly seems like you're trying to inconspicuously set up Itch.io game pages to mimic the payment scheme of Patreon ... which subverts the entire reasoning behind Itch.io . I am aware of Patreon and that it exists / how it operates - I very intentionally choose not to use Patreon. I have games on Itch.io along with platforms that rhyme with Beam and Cog and have zero issue with one-time payments.

I'm not saying you can't do this, but it really should have been made apparent. I would've paid for a second chapter or season or whatever, but I'm not going to purchase anything from you again considering you can just decide that whatever I initially paid wasn't good enough for the final product. It's a store, not a subscription and certainly not an auction house.

He literally had to list 0.8 as a different game to get around itch's setup.  He's committing fraud.

Good lord, you actually de-listed v.75.

I paid $15 for it 26 days ago and now you want me to pay an additional $14 for this next version. Had I waited a month I could've bought this version for a dollar cheaper.

I take back what I said about following your thinking.

Walt, I have no intention of delisting any of my games because my goal is neither to violate Itch ToS nor to scam anyone.

Version 0.7/0.75 is still public and you can find it by going to the top right button (Explore) > My Library > Things you own. Or just click here.

The links are still working and you will be able to download it forever if you purchased it.

That said, the pricing scheme I use is always the same: first week higher price, second week lower price, third week the game becomes free for everyone in the public version.

This is not just an idea, but a way of respecting those who support me on Patreon, which is the only platform that first allowed me to turn this into my job.

The Patreon subscription costs $12.50 and has always been more convenient, and it also guarantees access to official guides and bonus content such as the endings guide, which I can provide precisely because platforms like Patreon give me a sustainable revenue margin.

And I will repeat it, if you enjoyed my game, thank you for supporting me. If, before checking, I am accused of being dishonest or a scammer, then for me the conversation ends here.

The free version of .7/.75 can still be found - yes.

The premium version, however, cannot. Check your own page - there's four items. Two games split between a free and a premium version.

I am aware that the version I purchased is still in my library. I'm saying you should have five games - this one should have premium .75 and a premium .8. The fact that it's no longer possible to purchase .75 (and I do get the reasoning there - who in their right mind would purchase a deprecated product?) means that you have zero problem with pulling the rug out from the people who tried to support you.

You basically instituted a behavior that this platform doesn't support because you want more money - not out of fairness. Patreon <> Itch. There are other developers who understand this and treat them both differently. I would say I don't understand why you're trying to force the subscription behavior onto this platform, but again, you just want more money.

Yeah, that's not ok.  I thought I was buying your game. (understanding it was still in development) Nothing in the description indicated I was only buying "that version".  Every other game on itch you buy the paid version of the game, you get all the further versions of this game.  You seem to have gotten around this by listing 0.8 as a "new" game, but that's not the case.  I don't care about parity between systems, I didn't sign up for patreon cuz I'm not paying you monthly for an unfinished game.

This is not about agreeing on a "point of view".  You are committing fraud.  If you do not reverse this policy, I will report you and I do not think itch will look on it kindly.

I bought your game.  Not just one version.
