To respond to blocky graphics being a thing of the past, I thoroughly enjoy both 3D and 2D games. Graphics, for me, don't amount to much as long as it has a place, but I that's the point you're making as well.
So, I am curious beyond development, but more in playing games: What do you enjoy about RPG style games and does it differ from what you enjoy in games overall?
