I got this fangame randomly recommended to me and decided to play even though I had no prior knowledge to the franchise. Please note that I got the windows version so it is possible that some of my criticism has been already adressed in the android remaster.

It's cute. I got attached to Aiko even though I'm no part of this fandom whatsoever, and regardless of the wonky quality of the game. I appreciated the effort put into the character design (a girl with an alternative style, men have body hair and don't just look completely androgynous/like kids which is a common mistake made when drawing in a manga art style).

Bonus points for some of the songs which were picked for the soundtrack, made me feel so nostalgic for my old playlists. RIP lil peep.

Without spoiling anything, I found it touching that you get to name your MC after a few chapters rather than at the very beginning of the game like most visual novels do. It gives meaning to a simple mechanic we are all so used to overlook.

Downsides are:

1) Unfinished story with no clear plan of continuation (but ingame an update is announced in july so I'll be back to check on the game).

2) A few ren'py errors that aren't that bad and that do not break the game if you choose to ignore them when the window pops ups

3) Poor english translation. Not only there are grammatical errors, but some sentences are impossible to understand. It happens rarely though, and the context of the scenes is enough to get what's happening. Overall, most of the time, the translation is understandable, but could be written a 100 times better. I'm guessing the devs don't speak english much and tried their best to  translate whatever they could so the fangame could be available to everyone. So, even though this is a clear downside to the quality, I recognize the effort

4) I could guess what kind of art direction they were going for, but the execution feels unfinished, some of the UI or backgrounds don't match with how the character sprites/the rest of the UI was designed.
