That's weird. Are you using a controller or something? maybe you have to use the keyboard and/or viceversa. If you played Dead Plate (Racheldrewthis's other big game), in one of the endings, you get the same sequence of actions, where you have to press the keys, and it's the same, so if you played it before, I would try the same method you used. The timer is short, too, so you have to basically press it in less than three or two seconds before you get the bad end. Hope all of this helps you out.
