Okay, I have high hopes for this remake (or Rework, whatever the fuck we're calling it.), purely because I trust you Arc and believe you won't do anything stupid. However, what we've been given is not it bro.

First off, the designs for the characters. For some, the change isn't very jarring, so most might not notice it. (Morgana, for example.) For other characters (Like Pixie) the design is so different and so objectively worse than what the original was that you genuinely can't even recognize them as the same being anymore. Obviously this needs to revert to what they originally looked like, or these designs need to be remade so that they're as close to what they were before as possible while still letting You change it up a bit if you want. this last option is the best and the safest, this lets you modernize and adjust their looks without accidentally spiting the fanbase. I say this since I love OG Pixie, and she's one of, if not, my absolute most favorite character in the game. Following this, I want to burn new Pixie at the stake. Her new outfit is better than the OG but it feels like a little too different at the same time, so I feel it should be tweaked to look less like edgy rebellious teen. The face is on the opposite end of the spectrum and is utterly horrendous, when I first saw her I genuinely paused my game and almost deleted it on the spot. ARC, YOU CAN'T JUST UN-CUTE YOUR MASCOT, MAN! XD

Second, the menu designs and other things revolving around UI and the interface. This was good, its definitely got a lot more spirit in it than before in the way it looks, and I can tell you had fun with it. The little beeps when characters talk is cute, but it might give some people headaches, so I'd either remove it entirely or add a slider specifically dedicated to its volume output.

Third, exploration. Neither good nor bad, just different. The snack thing is pretty dumb, but the hex menu for exploring is kinda cool. It'd be a better idea to go back to timeslots but keep the hex grid for the best of both worlds if you're dead set on keeping it that way. (each block on the grid costing either 1/2 or 1/3 of a timeslot.)

Fourth, the plot changes in the intro and the new narrative framing of the world. I genuinely cannot say anything good about this part, and I'm sorry for that Arc, but you changed too much all at once. If you'd just gone with the new weird fisherman start and that was it, we'd have been cool. you get to start the game with some building confusion and give returning players something fresh, and we don't get a vastly different narrative setting to grapple with. As to what the hell just happened, MC could probably think he hallucinated or something. (this lets the whole Fish start be added without destroying your original and already established lore.) Making Fae go from Mythical creatures straight out of fairytales that live in secrecy to Oh they just kinda here now, and literally everyone knows what they are was an INCREDIBLE fumble of GARGANTUAN proportions. It removes every single ounce of intrigue, secrecy, mystery, and wonder from their involvement. And takes away the entire plotline that made them interesting in the first place.

Fifth, the locations. IDK man, you did something different than before but that's about all I can say. switching the environment from average city that actually hides deep, dark secrets to Magical New York with a racist and murderous government institution was not a good play. The resort hotel thing is nice, but having Jessica pull away from big bad evil group before the plot has gone anywhere comes off as lazy and breeds disinterest with how her arc will be handled now following this new setup. the original condo or apartment start both works better and is more believable.

All in all OG CK was about a 9-9.5/10, with this glimpse at what the remake could be landing at around 4-4.5/10, I hope all the super strong negativity and hate doesn't get to you, but I also hope you're not letting all the ass-kissing positive reinforcement make you think you're in the green or that what you put out was good enough to not deserve all the hate it has received so far. You let your creativity and need to change or fix things run too wild, and this pushback is the result of that blunder. So I hope you can take the rampant alphabet soup that's pummeling you, learn from it, and do better. Because we all know what you're capable of, if OG CK wasn't close to being a beloved masterpiece no one would be mad at you. It's because we have such high expectations for you and confidence in your quality that we get so upset when you fail to meet those standards.
