The document is interesting, but I have a few nitpicks:

  • It's true that clubs (and to some extent maces) can be wielded with 2 hands, but those are different (bigger) clubs. I don't think Versatile fits.
  • I, admittedly, don't know what a "pistol-club" is (16th century pistols were, honestly, clubs in their own right,) but a pistol should have the "Close" keyword (being able to be shot in melee without disadvantage,) as historically fighting in close quarters was the pistol's whole point.
  • Cestus if flavorful, but is basically a gauntlet mode of leather. As such one would expect it to be "Defensive" (your version) instead of "Finesse" (how does one punch with dexterity, exactly?) or at least provide the customary "expend reaction for +1 AC" feature of gauntlets.

I give it 4/5 stars. Hits more than it misses.

While I cannot find a reference to 'Close' as a keyword I could implement it or simply state it does not have disadvantage in melee.

Cestus I need to see what I was thinking, it may have been part of my 'we need more finesse weapons' agenda but Defensive makes sense as it is protecting your hands when they catch or deflect an attack.

I do need to revisit the whole thing with the 5.5 weapon masteries taken into account but 4/5 is still enough to make my day!

Oh, huh. I guess it's a house rule our GM came up with for our campaign (or pulled from some obscure 3rd party rulebook.)
