Guys, something's up here. I'm not sure if I'm just having some extremely bad luck with the demo, but it just refuses to work. At all.
I start a run of the demo, and the intro plays just fine. Then the scene pops up with Ms. Happ waking up at her desk and the game just doesn't go anywhere from there. I try every button on the keyboard and... nothing.
So I Alt+F4 out, load the game up again and get to the tutorial. And after clicking through all of the hint windows, once again -- nothing. The only thing I can even interact with is the eye, hand and backpack buttons and Ms. Happ on the side of the screen. Can't move, can't interact with anything.
So I close it down a third time and load it back up and... once again, NOTHING. So now I'm convinced something's just not working.
I go to the settings to adjust the visuals and see if I could adjust the window size or resolution and all I get is "NAME" across each setting in the visual options. It doesn't allow me to change anything, so I'm sure something's borked here. I just skipped this since the game appeared to be running fine visually, at least.
Then I go to the controls tab and here's where I noticed the biggest problem: All of the keyboard controls were set to "W", so I reset the keyboard controls to how they should be in the game (WASD, with Q and E for strafe) and go to apply the changes.
Another issue arises. The window pops up saying that the settings will be reverted in 10 seconds, but it never goes away, even when I click one of the two buttons. So even if I wanted to change my controls, I can't.
Then I shut it down a fourth time. I go back to the settings to change my controls, but this time, I don't hit the apply button to see if it sticks. I go back to the settings to double-check that the controls are still as I left them, and they were, then I load my game again and...
Nothing. After all this troubleshooting, the game just won't let me play it. I'm not sure if there's something I'm doing wrong or if the demo is just this hideously buggy, but I would really love some sort of solution to this problem, because I want to support this project, but I can't back this in good faith with it being basically unplayable.
If anyone on the dev team knows a way to get this game running properly, or if there are any specs I need to have this game work, PLEASE let me know ASAP. I'd really appreciate it.
