Most Hyped Game of the Year?

As a sophomore currently navigating the ins and outs of a second year of marching band, this game made my day a month ago. I didn’t read the file name because I was so excited, so imagine my disappointment when I found out that it was merely a demo. Until it’s fully released, I’ve decided to check back every day for a progress update. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I don’t.

To whomever has worked on this game, thank you so much for giving me a new motivation. Life has been tough recently; and this game has given me something to look forward to, that tending to be rare and hard to come by. I wish you good health and easy coding (err, as easy as it can be).

P.S. I absolutely live for Poptart, Marion, and Garth. Wish Garth was a bit younger just so I wouldn’t feel bad for liking him so much. Pls don’t hurt Poptart ever. Also Marion needs a cup of coffee and a plaque. No appreciation for the dead inside librarian, not even in the “How to Survive Band Camp” video lol.

P.P.S. I love the part where you can nominate the trombones/trumpets as the best section for their abs, and the Clarinet Boi (I refuse to learn his name, out of spite) gets upset THEN TAKES OFF HIS SHIRT THE NEXT DAY TO WIN THE AWARD. I’m not even into him; it just made me giggle.

This made me so happy to read! If you don't mind me asking, which instrument do you play?

I don't make regular progress updates on here so I'd recommend following us on Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, or liking us on Facebook. I post regular screenshots there to reassure everyone we're still alive. I only update here with big news like the Kickstarter or a Twitch stream.

Don't worry, by the time the game comes out, you just might be Garth's age! (though I really hope we can release it next year...we'll see) And that Section of the Day scene absolutely kills me. One of my favorite moments in the demo. If you invite Clark to video game night afterwards, Tom and Peter cheer for him when he walks in the door instead of eyeing him doubtfully.

Thank you so much for your support and for taking the time to comment. I truly hope life gets easier for you. High school is definitely a tough time, but I encourage you to hang in there because there are a ton of new experiences waiting for you after. I wish you good health as well and I look forward to the day you can play our game in full! :)

Jeez, I can’t believe I neglected a reply for so long. I never got the email and never thought you would respond back to me, especially not so promptly! I play trumpet, but I’m hoping to either switch to mellophone or possibly become a drum major. Consensus in the band is that I’m a popular pick for drum major next year. Totally unexpected!

Hah, being Garth’s age would be bittersweet for me. It would make it easier, but I also don’t like to think about the possibility of this amazing game being two more years away. As of now, though, I have an amazing senior boyfriend who reminds me of Garth with Clark-like passion about band, rehearsal, and playing instruments. Seriously though, I think you really outdid yourself in that Section of the Day bit; it was stellar. I’m totally going to invite Clark over now. Can totally imagine him being like “dudes wtf stop staring at me sTOP PLAYING THIS GARBAGE WE HAVE BAND CAMP TOMORROW.”

No, thank you for responding. A lot has happened since I wrote this comment, some good and some bad. But I anticipate this game because, through it all, marching band has been my escape; I just realized that during senior night this past Friday. I hope I’ll be able to play this game and others like it in the future. Who knows? You may create a new genre of sports related dating sims (because yes, marching band is a sport).

Heck yeah! That's awesome! This game is being developed by a trumpet player and a mellophone player so you have good taste in instruments lol. Best of luck with going for drum major!

Thanks so much! I'm glad to hear some good things are happening to you and I hope they keep coming. Definitely make sure to enjoy this time in your life. When I see high school football games and marching band competitions from afar, my heart still aches ten years later. There's nothing else like it. I promise we'll get this game done eventually, even if I can't say for sure when. And not gonna lie, we have ideas for a sequel in mind hahaha, but that's a long way off. First things first, we gotta get THIS game done!

Have a great day. :)

Hi, it's me again, a bit more than a full year later! Are you well, with this COVID-19 pandemic? I hope so.

I can proudly say that I am now the drum major of my high school, for our 2020-2021 season. The season may get cancelled; however, it's such an honor to have even been selected. Now, as an incoming junior band major, I can say I relate to Cadence.

P.S. Still play this demo whenever I get the chance! It's a mini-masterpiece, and my tastes haven't faltered: Clark, Garth, and Pop-Tart. Have a great day. :)

This got me having emotions lol. Yes, we're still kicking for now. Life has been so crazy and I'm bummed to say we haven't made much progress on the game. I hope you're staying safe as well.

THAT IS SO AWESOME! CONGRATULATIONS!!! I truly hope the 2020 marching band season won't get cancelled. Despite being too old for band, that would absolutely crush me to think that so many kids might miss out on those priceless experiences. I get a huge hole in my heart just thinking about it. I can't imagine actually having to go through that.

Thanks for taking the time to come back and update us. <3 You have a great day, too. :)
