Ahhh yes! I wanted Benji to exude a feeling of heaviness and tension overall, and sometimes juxtaposed with moments of comfort. I've been told that he's almost TOO realistic of a yandere, and I imagine that would make it hard to like him lol! It's interesting how Ellis feels more comforting (despite him showing more violent tendencies) simply due to this fact, and it makes sense. Maybe because Benji's emotional manipulation is just this constant, grating, gets-under-your-skin kind of attack?
You're totally right btw. Benji is very self-focused. Even though he tries to do and be everything for mc, it's because he needs to feel needed. I'm sure there's a lot of layers to why that is. But anyway, I'm soooooo thankful for this comment, and that the writing was felt so viscerally! That is really all I can hope for.
