I could not charge the batteries and thus got soft-locked and was unable to continue, or it might be just me not knowing how to play this game. I like the idea though! GG!

Oh sorry about that. You unlock the charger (any of the six battery symbol blocks) using cash (the first ones closest to the counter cost £5 to unlock), then collect the device from the counter and put it onto either the lightning or USBC charger. You start with £15 so if you spend all the money on speed boosts or unlocking counters you will lose :D
