Yeah, so this is a review based on a version that is ancient and expectedly misunderstood. One of the reasons it needed a massive rewrite and thanks for confirming those problems.
To clarify a few points:
1 - The navigation and progression was absolutely terrible. That's been (and is still getting) completely revamped.
2 - The game makes it pretty clear that there are no alternate paths available yet if you attempt to take the other choice. The planned alternate path will change way more than just the one outcome and developing both simultaneously would be too much for one person to keep track of. I'm planning to make two very distinct plotlines.
3 - A big part of MC's current attitude is that he became a shut-in after how things in the criminal underground ended, where he thought he was on top of the world only for someone to come in and erase it in a single night.
His story is one of accepting what happened and finding himself again, rather than coming in guns blazing with no character development whatsoever. I'm structuring it better and making it a little more clear in the rewrite, because you're not the first who seems to think he's meant to be everyone's lapdog. Meaning the backstory is conveyed a little wonky.
4 - Luxe is another character who's story I messed up structurally. The attitude came across, but the reasoning behind it got kind of lost...
Funnily enough, how you view the MC is exactly how he feels about himself and he hates being that as well. He also hates who he used to be too, so... Where does one go?
Now, two things I'm not compromising on is the progression of sex scenes and the overall theme of the story.
- The sex scenes are more like a parallel extra than something the story revolves around. I want them to progress from extremely tame to extremely raunchy, because once you have sex with a girl what else is there to do other than more sex? But there are entire modes planned around it once things open up. I'm just trying to keep them gradual. (As an extra, I am entertaining the idea of a "new game+" where MC uses his talent selfishly and completely flips the story upside down.)
- Each character (MC included) explores some kind of tragedy in life. It's about getting back up after life knocks you down and that's never easy or straight forward.
As harsh as your criticism was, I do appreciate seeing how differently someone interprets the story. It's also possible this might be the kind of story that'll never appeal to you and that's fine.
