Interesting premise. Not sure if there’s enough here to judge whether it’d be a good game.
First time I took a few steps forward toward one of the purple things and then immediate fade out. On respawn I spun around as soon as I heard the noise and saw a small brown puck on the ground. I assume that’s the monster. After that it was mostly just walking backwards to each of the purple then to the door.
Since the map is so open and the monster AI is so simple, the gameplay didn’t feel that compelling, since it’s so easy to predict and cheese the movement.
The camera smoothing is interesting, though I think it’s a little too strong. It wasn’t too hard to get used to, but I didn’t really turn the camera around much except when turning around to go into the door.
I think the game could work, but it’d need a lot stronger fog so that the player can’t see the monster in the distance so that the monster can reposition once the player walks far enough away.
Overall, needs work, but I can see things that can be added that could make it fun.
