It is likely of the Oculus (though not truly confirmed) because it follows the same personality and the fact that they know of what is going on. Plus as a video game, making another character for the one scene doesn't make much sense. While in the messages they speak of pitying your life, or lack of, and wanting to grant you another start, I am not certain if that is their actual reasoning. Because they could merely lie, and that doesn't explain why they chose us. Did they know of the MC's pathetic life, if so, how? An entity with that level of power isn't going to spend it on this, and if they did, they wouldn't spend time ensuring it goes well.
