HI, I was playing a bit ago, I figured out the safe code and made it to the power puzzle. As I was moving down the hall towards the elevator I made the mistake of looking back and she got me in a second.
So I reloaded the checkpoint which has me in the area with the power puzzle and the moment I walk to the door frame she makes a B line straight for me and kills me every time in seconds, I have tried hiding and going different routes and the moment she sees me she catches me and I'm dead again.
My Questions are, is there a run button (nothing I tried seemed to make me run faster) and what is the process to evade her. Can she hear me making noise and if so can I sneak in any way? I figured when I had died the first time I would have to trigger the little girl to come out again, but instead she's just there ready to snipe me and my only option seems to be to restart the game.
I do like the game so far and want to try again but if there is no way to survive then I'm not sure there is a point to playing. I hope there is a run feature that I'm just not finding, the protagonist should be able to very slightly out run an enemy unless there are other methods built in that allows you to evade them like, crouching and walking silently or hiding and letting the enemy to move to another area (and she never stops hunting the area I'm in that allows me to do that). Otherwise it's a lesson in frustration slapping the player in the face saying, that's what you get for playing. lol
I read what you said that you're a new dev and not a coder, I'm in a similar boat, I can read some code and I know how to look things up but never dedicated time for it. So I understand if it is what it is and there's nothing you can do, but just keep that stuff in mind for your next game because those things could make and break some potentially great ideas.
Oh btw my specs are
CPU: i7-4710HQ 2.5 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860m - 2GB VRAM
OS: Windows 10
RAM: 16G
The system runs it pretty good actually, I had to lower the resolution multiplier to 50% but no issues.
