This game astonishes one with amazing visuals. We are startled by the grotesqueness of the images at first, but the atmosphere is so compelling that we are practically obliged to advance.
It is a brooding, rotting and pestilent world . All of Othilie's stories are hauntingly beautiful and proof of her unparalleled genius. She has projected all her sufferings and twistedness into characters, but these have slowly gained a life of their own, germinating a deep resentment towards her for creating them so wicked. Each of them speak with an astounding self-awareness. The fatality they suffer is pitiful, and they know it.
It's the rebellion of these characters against their own creator, the absolute degradation of Othilie's mind, and the leading to its inevitable dissolution that makes up this story.
We are observers, readers that have returned to these novels seeking for something else, yet we get the feeling that we have arrived too late to save anybody. The sick and devouring loath has dissipated into subdued resentment and seeped into the fleshy walls of the crumbling place.
The emotions conveyed by this game are extremely powerful, some sentences (and images) I believe deserve a prize. The literary references and inspirations are perfectly adequate, the music is simply endowed with regret and grief, as the whole story is.
Fantastic game. Thank you Thibault Rivera.
