Thanks for asking. After you randomly order the cards (except "Carousel;" that always starts in slot 1), choose any card and respond to the prompt matching where in slot order the card is in. THEN move the card you just played to slot 1, pushing all the other cards "up" (to the right).
Most of the "1" prompts also let you switch two other cards (because otherwise slot 1 cards do nothing to the game state). Again, you do that AFTER responding to the prompt. You may swap cards 1 and 2. I made a last minute change to say "before moving this card to slot 1" that is totally unnecessary because the card is already in slot 1. (oops)
