yeh I think creating the waves system gave me the most headaches out of everything, and it's still bugged. I was planning on spawing a new wave of enemies only if the player kills all the other enemies from the current wave (you know... like a normal enemy wave system). But after completing the first wave, no new enemies were spawing and still idk why. So I just made it time based instead.
