Even if the characters, worldbuilding and central premise of this hard scifi weren't great (they are), the real star of the show is the attention to detail. Every description is overflowing with depth and purpose. It's a quick read, but I already feel I've spent a lot of time in this world. A fantastic introduction to what I'm sure will be a killer series!
