Your speaking my language with "begin your search at the dingiest, most poorly-organized used bookstore you can find, one with piles of unsorted books lying around and a huge shelf of yellowed, crumbling sci-fi paperbacks." Unfortunately, these sorts of places are in the process of suffering the same fate as Mr. Schmierdorf: largely being forgotten and closing down. I will keep my eyes open. I now have a quest! To find Mr. Schmierdorf's tomes!
