You got a point. Actually I'm a totally newbie in I-Iching. I got its concept roughly and using it for the game jam.

Seem like I've missed the concept about the meaning of Upper and Lower. As you mentioned, lower side is more suitable for the hero than the upper since it is represent the personal stance.

I have been using the I Ching for thirty odd years. What you created is spot on- wonderful. What I have learned is to hell with tradition, if you got something good, it moves you, then keep going with it- the sages would do the same.

Now if you change the orientation to bottom to top- does that change the hexagram section?

It would. For example, player use Water move in Mountain situation. If we change the player's move to lower trigram, we'll get Moutain over Water instead of Water over mountain.

I've not considered about active-passive of player's intention things if you mean by that
