Just wanted to give my own review of the game since a lot of the "reviews" aren't really reviews and are instead questions or pointless commentary.
This game is extremely impressive for what it is. The art is really well-made and professional and feels good to look at, clearly a lot of time went into it and the animations are unlike what you normally see on ITCH, very talented artists here.
The game does have underlying sexual themes, but it plays into the story from what I can tell. I'm 70 days in, yeah, I'm hooked, and there's clearly some mystery related to the sister, the world around you, and your actions having to do with her, that's made clear in the beginning but gets expanded on in non-obvious ways as you progress. (Yeah it does get much more sexual as you progress, but please don't judge the game just because of it. The game has a lot of cool features and a good story, so focus on everything else first, the NSFW is more of an extra addition)
The gameplay loop is fun and rewarding. Until you're maybe 60-65 days in, you're always encountering new things and have a goal in mind as long as you're self-sufficient. There are a lot of interesting late-game goals too, like surviving falls strategically using items (hint). The main loop is exploring dungeons and finding new equipment, information, items, vendors, and fun combinations to use from what you've been collecting over the course of your dungeon sprawling. It reminds me of Orna in some ways with the item setup.
While this is a great game, there are some things I'd like to see. For one, I think it would be really cool if the food weapons get a buff and gear is added to buff them. I just think it's a really interesting idea but isn't given much time of day, Lol, you get carrot swords from time to time but can't do much with them.
The martial artist set could probably use a buff too in my opinion. Most of the time I just end up using bows and pairing my middle finger (lol) with the From Hell sword. I think it would be really neat if the fists become viable with the right combination, which isn't possible right now. Maybe martial artist characters could be added too, who knows.
It would be great to see some more of the items having an effect on the sprite too, like with the ice items for instance, especially the frozen heart, it could give you icy breath that you can see coming from the sprite, the fire rings can give you fire eyes if equipped with the Salamandre book, and so on.
Those were just some ideas I find interesting. Once again, if you're thinking of getting it, just give it a shot, I really loved the game after spending some time on it. Haven't played anything like it honestly. I am really looking forward to the new updates and NLCH has already done a wonderful job with them already. Haven't found out how to fight the deep sea monster or the mech, but I'm sure I'll figure it out at some point, if it's implemented anyway. Also want to know about the mushroom house, that will be awesome.
Overall NLCH thanks for a great game. I hope you continue creating games after this one, it's awesome and deserves some love. I feel bad people pass over it due its themes when it has a lot of potential and is already so fun as is. RIP Sela and cheers to an amazing experience and only more to come!
