Surprisingly weak writing for Brian Mullholland. 100 satisfying endings were set up and none of them executed on properly. The life sim was largely flat, flat cast flat main character, and did not really play with it's own themes well even in the endings. Mullholland is at his best writing beats you expect, robbing you of them, then giving you them anyways. I will always be charmed by their use of reference, and I they know what they're doing with big themes. I don't think I could've ended the story better, I don't think I would've made the player spend so much time with characters that were unlovable. I'm only so critical cause I LOVE of the devil and so I've gone back to their other work, their love of anime, big moments, using visual novel as somewhere between indie anime and literature, its all here. I'm not making things, I feel I have little right to even be an art critic until I do, but I hope Mullholland know what about this doesn't work and what does. Personally I come to his stuff as a trans anarchist and see someone playing in similar dirt to me whether or not its true.
