I checked the zip file on the itch.io again, and it's working on my system.
The fact that the game.dat file can't be found might mean that the extraction wasn't done correctly. Right-click the downloaded zip file, select "Extract all" and unzip it to a location you want put it.
I did, I mean that when I go to open the game itself, it gives me that error.
