As far as I've gotten into the game you need to go to the cantina on the planet (the local map node looks under the bridge/arch) and speak to the guy in there and work to gain access to the VIP area. After that though I'm not sure. Done 2 shifts in the cantina so far and I haven't figured out how to progress past here.
