The game's absolutely phenomenal. The story, the mechanics, the characters, it comes together beautifully. The first game really piqued my interest, and thanks to that, both it and this game pulled me in so hard, I couldn't stop myself from learning more and more about them before actually playing it on my own. (Only was just recently able to buy the game on Steam, after having known about it for a couple months now. I was enthralled.) So much so that I felt I needed to make an account on here to comment on just how good it is.
Samarie and Marina are definitely my favorite characters of the bunch, and I connect a lot with both of them. Though the latter definitely deserves the most praise, the best I've seen a game (or any piece of media really) implement the topic. I've seen you responding to comments talking about how you chose to handle it with subtlety and why certain scenes with her were cut, and I can say with absolute certainty that you definitely made the right call. Without a doubt, 100%. It did a lot to make it feel sincere, and if you hadn't it would've dragged her down - In the same way it usually drags things down in other games where it was fumbled.
It's honestly refreshing seeing it woven in naturally and not dragging away attention from everything else going on, like it would be with a spotlight laser-focused onto it. It's perfect. It's not out of place in the world, it ties into the world building, it's nuanced, how she's characterized sort of makes sense with it too and it isn't artificial. And it's so, so much more real for it. Like seriously, everyone should be taking notes! I am a little anxious for how the eventual update might (if at all) affect that, but I figure if it does it'll most likely be consistent and have the same approach. And if so, I just know it'll be golden. But I've gushed about the game enough. So I think I'll just say, thank you for bringing this game, characters and all, into the world. It means a lot to me. <3
