I love the flipping cards and the duality in the game! attack/defend, edge/dull, violet/magenta.
The tutorial is good and has humor, but is also a lot to read and doesn’t say things directly. It would be even better if there is less to read and the hints point to the things directly on screen: instead of saying “the magenta thing below me”, display a label on top of it. After the tutorial, a card in the game tells me about “apply -3 empower”, but I don’t know what that means.
The text inside the cards is barely readable, but also is not necessary at all! Because I can hover them with the mouse to read it better, and right-click them to read what’s on the flip side. I would remove it entirely, leaving more room for the artwork. Also maybe show the defend description when hover? Maybe in a grayed out style to inform that this is for the flipped side? That would save me right-clicking on each card all the time. The music is great and goes with the aesthetics, but is also a bit secabocha.
I wonder if there is a more automatic way to apply the last card as defend instead of having to do this repeatedly: 1. Attack with all but one -> 1. click Done -> Apply the remaining card as defend. For example: If I click Done and there is a remaining card in my hand, apply it as defend on my character directly. When 2 enemies were presented, I attacked one but couldn’t kill it, it was left at 1/18 health and I didn’t know why. The game is great already, I will definitely buy it!
