Thanks! Looks like I need do put some time away for making a tutorial next time. :)
The yellow star above the character shows when they have a "charge" available - if you hover above that character with a mouse, the game will highlight the cells where can/will attack/heal; then click on them to actually use the skill.
Also, the bees recharge skills (yellow star = yellow bee).
