Hey bro, your Feedback form broke and also was a bit too long, so I'm writing feedback here.

First, congratz on releasing your game on itch. Very nice. But unfortunately there were a few things that made the experience in the game not very enjoyable for me.

Positives:
1. Sound effects were really nice
2. Loved the pixel art
3. Encountered no bugs

Negatives:
1. Can't change Sound (it was way too loud)
2. Can't change keyboard keys, my Z key is not where your Z key is
3. Not sure why you distribute the game as 7z. Many might have it, but not everyone. You can use .zip format even with 7ZIP.
4. After completing a run, I had no highscore or score, meaning there was no reason to go again. (even a simple score in green or red depending on if highscore, would be nice)
5. After completing a run, I have gained nothing, meaning another run feels unnecessary. There is no progression.

Hey Cakez!!! Thanks for playing and investing time to give some feedback! I really appreciate it!

  • There is no reason for it to be a .7z file, that was an oversight and it can perfectly be a .zip instead. Good catch!
  • Sound settings is something I didn't add due to the prototype nature of the game, but in retrospective it should be something added as early as possible if one wants to have people play testing it. So I'll add it in the following build. It is a common remark, you are not alone!
  • Progression wise I understand. That will be an important design challenge, but so far I just focused on the "inner" game loop. But your feedback here and in the VOD is still very valuable to understand where I can go with it.

Qwhack is not abandoned, but definitely slowed down a bit. Also I have been trying to get a wasm build for it, but being made jai made it a bit more challenging. I should probably release a blog post here to lay out the status and plans for the project.

Finally, thanks for the positive feedback on the art and sound. That was all made from scratch by myself (sfx recording had the help of my kid), except the font (so no AI). I am glad that you enjoyed those.
