I think it might be because those ones will carry the black smoke in later updates. However, since that weapon isn’t in the game yet, they serve only aesthetic purposes. I'm not a developer, though, so take my word's with a grain pound of salt.
I looked closer and they only appear at night and it looks like the lights do come from right there , so it's just search lights Because they only disappear at daytime
Man, I could have took photo evidence. But they only stay if they die at night. Sam\n E goes with heat, ray. When dies while shooting , keep ray , the heat rate doesn't turn off
But i noticed only one of this variant comes per cylinder which also leads me to belive they are some kind of.. leader, but they could just be smoke machines
