you can avoid bad endings by choosing options that would aid you in the situation you're in; In most bad endings, the endings are caused by you (the player's) neglect (e.g not eating, abuse bot or specific choices in the story-- which I will not disclose to avoid spoilers)

But in story options which can result in bad ends, choose the options which seem to fit the context of the issue or who you personally think could help you in the situation

Some bad ends occur if your bot does not have high enough affection or is missing parts, so equip your bot with limbs when you can

Aside from the events around day 30, most bad ends can be avoided by taking your time and learning some mechanics

Oh and if you fish up an old hand grenade, don't use it...
